Afternoon all. Today whilst driving the passenger door flew open, and scared the the wife to bits. This has happened twice recently.Last time we were on the M25. This adds to the problem in my other post about the windows not dropping when pressing the mirror button to get in. Can anyone tell me whats going on please?confusedeek

Happened to me on my T350. In my case the door cable needed adjusting. Don't ask me how, I am an acknowledged danger with spanners

Dave - might be worth checking what O&G mentioned.

Behind trim panel where seat belt runs through, you'll find latch mechanism.
It could be that the "emergency release" cable is binding/holding latch open (or slightly).
Might be worth lubricating mechanism and cable from red pull handles in foot wells.

Ya see. That's what I love about Piston heads. There is always people out there with the answer, because it has happened to them. I've just come back in from giving the two red handles in the foot well a good old yank several times. And it would appear to have done the trick!! My wife just pointed out that when the door flew open the window had clearly gone down as well. she assured me that it was up previously because she just don't go along with the window down. Does the mean anything?? Cheers for your help guys.clapbow
PS. Do you think this might have anything to do with the window not dropping down even though the door pops open when wanting to get in?scratchchin

Mine is doing the same it has not been right since my little accident but hopefully Dom will sort it out while its having eth 4.5 put in, so you as bad as me then with the spanners an absolute disaster area

just a quick couple of things I have done

Cerb

Changed the washer lines for the wipers , did not tie back properly and caught fire in France and blew the big fuse

Changed the hoses to silcon overheated in France again as cut one in half dont know why they come made to measure and put a plastic connector but is just leaked and it got too hot

T350

Changed the metal pedal cover to carbon and fixed to back through the brake servo

Had this fixed on mine (driver door random popping open) last week.
Symptoms were:
- Window not always dropping.
- When you set the alarm you wont always get the blip, blip, blip sound.
- Door pop-open if you hit a pot hole

Solution:
In the centre console was the little black controller box which had not be secured properly and was moving around alot. Over time 1 of the terminal had come a little bit loose and hence the issues above.

Hope you get yours fixed.

Thanks for that Mike. For now my door appears fixed,as a ph member pointed out the red handles in either foot well, that they might not be fully pushed home.I located them both and gave them a lot of pulling and pushing back in again, and they have been OK ever since. However it still has me feeling uneasy when going round sharp right hand bends and roundabouts. How easy is it to remove the centre console to get at the box. And does it have a name on it? The reason for asking is the I'm told the alarm black box is under there too?

I had this happen to mine too. Whilst driving, on an a road which wasn't particularly smooth, the drivers door window dropped and the door unlatched. Bloody worrying. What had it been the passenger door? Very disconcerting.

The thread saying loose pins in the door ecu is a possibility. My door sensors behind the door catch plates are a bit dodgy but I don't think they are responsible for unlatching the catch?
