London to Paris in 24 hours to see the last stage of Le Tour

Hi,

I'm trying to make summer 2014 a memorable one, so I'm off with a few mates to see the Grand Depart of The Tour in July. I'm also wanting to ride London - Newhaven - Dieppe - Paris in 24 hours, arriving on Saturday 26th July, to see the finish on the Sunday.

The trip's in the early stages of planning at the moment - read I've booked the time off work - and I'm ideally looking to get a group together to join me. I'm hoping there's some likeminded people out there who'd be keen on doing this.

Question is, how and where's best to organise this sort of thing and attract people to it? Any specific websites or forums?

Any ideas welcome.

Hi there, am doing exactly the same thing, 280 miles in total on the 7th of July for Scope, don't get to see the start of the tour mind, but it is over 24 hours. I believe you may well pick up a few riding partners via this forum, good luck with it!

I'd looked at some of the organised rides and they offer everything I'm wanting, i.e. the company, luggage transfers, support etc. I just can't justify the £1500 they all seem to want and I doubt I'd raise it in sponsorship either. And to be honest, I'm not sure I'd ask for sponsorship either - it's not that there's anything wrong with it, more that I had decided to do this trip with fun and a personal goal in mind, so asking for charity money seems a bit disingenuous in my case.

I did exactly that route last year, in 24 hours, with 3 friends. Completely unsupported. I made a thread about it here, hope that's of use...
