Looking to get a camcorder to take skiing. Have tried iPhones and older (circa 1996!) camcorders, but results are too wobbly, even with post processing.

Have seen some impressive youtube vids showing various native internal optical stabilisers for camcorders, but wondered how people actually found using them in real life?

Hoping to spend as little as possible, but i guess £250-500 is needed for a decent-ish, handheld HD solution..? Also, am I correct in assuming the GoPro cameras don't have any internal optical stabilisation? (if so - shame, as I'd have thought they'd be perfect for this otherwise...)

Can anyone help with advice?

Thanks.

Correct on the GoPro, however the Sony Action cam does have stabilisation and it works really well.

Thanks Dave. I'd assumed any non-optical IS would be no better than the post-processing I'm doing now, but the little sony looks pretty good.

The new sony PJ540 looks interesting too - looking to see if I can find one to have a play before buying. Anyone tried one yet?
