Around 2 years from what I hear, unless you fancy paying a £20K premium.

Give it 12 months and the speculators will have dropped away leaving modest (if any) premiums on nearly new cars.

IMO the smart money at the moment would go on a Gallardo. Virtually the same performance as a 430 but lots of them about, and even more when the 430 arrives so bargains to be had.

Why would you say the speculators will drop out, and how on earth would you expect a new ferrari to have no premium ?

Serious Question

I'd be interested to hear the explanation to this one as well....

Most new 'must have cars' whan they first come out are offered with serious premiums but these soon start to fall away when more cars come on to the market. OK the 430 will probably have a premium for a bit longer but I doubt after they have been out for 12 months or so you will see loads of them being advertised in the Sunday Times for £25K above list.

The same thing happened with the Gallardo and will with the Aston V8.

Lots of people just order them to cash in on the posers who will pay silly money just to have one of the latest cars.

aah yes, get you now.

sure 12 mths down the line £25k wont be expected on all models (tho spider may well still command a fair premium) but I certainly dont expect them to be 'just over list soon after release'

I plan to keep the Berlinetta 9 mths, then sell on for a nice premium, then take delivery of the spider and see how it goes.

The Gallardo was massivly oversubscribed.. Ferrari are more cautios in their sales... they know the power of residuals in making a car desirable.

True - thoguht I think with the gallardo LAmborghini allowed too many cars ont he amrket in one go. Ferrari are masters at this and keep suply just below demand. See with the 360 spyder - these were still going for premiums over list in the alst 24 months - sveral years after launch! Would agree that the same won't be said with the coupe for so long - but I think a brand new 430 coupe will be attracting an over list premium for a fair while..

Davey, I'm not sure the same logic applies to the F430. It is a Ferrari and also this is a car that seriously raises the bar (if the write ups are to be believed) as against its competitors.

Sure, premiums will dip and die away after a while - that's market forces for you. Look at the 360. However, there are some serious collectors out there, in addition to the carpetbaggers, and I suspect that demand will remain strong with a 2 year waiting list for some time, even if there is an economic downturn.

As for the Gallardo, cracking car though it is, the market is falling away already. Gallardo's appear in European dealers now for £80k plus. I'm not sure you will see comparable depreciation on an F430 in the same timeframe. Obviously I'd loved to be proven wrong as then I would have a chance to get my hands on the car, but I suspect I will have a long wait...

Yes Lambo do seem to be a victim of their own success with the Gallardo.

I agree that you wont see a 430 with minimal miles on it for list price for some time but when the initial 'wow' factor has died down a bit they will be at more sensible prices. I wouldnt be surprised if some cars will be in the Sunday Times for the same sort of Money as a Murcielago when they first come out.

At least they will never get to the stage of the Ford GT. One dealer was advertising a soon to be delivered car for £245,000!!!!

I know its exclusive with just 24 coming to the UK but that is one hell of a mark up.

Had a chat about picking a F430 up in March 05, I was told I'd need list plus £30k!

Then again, one fella did pay £150k for his Gallardo (not me) so someone will cough up.

To answer your question, Joe Macari has a few coming very soon - he'll want top dollar but if you really can't wait...

just been infromed by my dealer that 70! 430's have been ordered putting waiting times back to 3 years now ! 50% will cancel though (so im told) as they will probably go to 360's.

they think the 360 prices will hold or maybe go up as a result of the delay with the 430 - opinions on this please guys ?

personally im not rich enough to pay a premium and if i was i would still not pay it !
so i have to look elsewhere for my ferrari fix !!!
maybe a 360 or the 355 ? please advise guys ?
im liking the 575 more and more each day though (-;

Cant see 360 prices going up.

In terms of value I would go for a 355 as they have started to bottom out so you could run one for a few years and not loose much money at all.

575's are also looking good (several advertised by main dealers in the Sunday Times yesterday with a few thousand miles starting around the £100k mark). They will still drop a fair bit in the next few years though.

I would go 355 for a V8 or 550 or 456 for a V12.

A 575 will push all your buttons as you love your 3200. Just imagine everything the masser does but more faster louder better (well except carrying 4 people!).

I just keep seeing frosties 550 with the tubi on, and I know that I'll have to have one someday

Got it in one. Too many 360's about, even the CS will drop seriously before next Autumn. Always were just too expensive. The 575's are looking a serious option.

My VMAX pilot is getting one in August 2005, I think he's, second or third on the list in the North West. He's ordered a Rosso Corsa/Nero manual. If he doesn't like it, he'll be getting shut. Anyone interested in case he does?
