I realise this May have been covered before. Helping my friend who is after a GT. Looking at a later 2.0 JTS model from 2007 onwards, I've just read a few threads that this engine is generally the one to avoid however doe this apply to early ones both for GT and 156? As I say he's looking at GTs at 57-08 plates and what would be the 'facelift' dash and minor updates - possibly even a Cloverleaf.

Had the issues been sorted or is a simple case of 'avoid' and or go for the 1.8 TS (or even the JTD?)

Any help will be appreciated.

I haven't heard many good things about the jts engine but my advice would for him to speak to one of the Alfa specialist garages as they have first hand experience of any problems associated with that particular engine/car combination.

As far as I understand it they used a high pressure fuel system with special injectors which caused most of the problems but I could be wrong, where in the country are you?

older 156jts, is good. newer ones seem to encounter various problems. think it's cost cutting design just leads to poor longevity.
