Only I've just been told that the cars top speed is recorded in a data log...Is this a wind-up?

What possible use is it to anyone other than the Old Bill?

Yup it does, but you can clear it if you wish, it logs other things to like max rpm, oil and water temp. You can access this by holding the fog light for 5 seconds and the pressing the menu select knob...

Seem to remember seeing or reading that it does store it, maybe with the peak temperature?

However as far as I know the date is not programmed into the pod just the time, so proving when and where you did that speed would be impossible..

I wouldn't worry they regularly show stupid unattainable speeds, 230 mph etc.

Seriously though...other than for track day comparisons I can see no point in this info being available even if it's not credible.
