Is my old bike worth anything

I have a Raleigh M Trax with Chrome Alloy frame and Shimmano gears, brakes etc, last used in anger in about 1994 still in good condition but have accepted never going to use it again

Is it worth selling?

Same as mine possibly? I got it 2nd hand about 10 year ago for £100 and was told it was an M Trax and has the special products mark on and seems fairly light

Quick surf of a couple of forums and eBay and they seem to change hands for between £20-£75 depending on condition, the Ti ones fetch more.

Although they don't seem to be worth a huge amount there does seem to be a bit of a cult following - so I would say sell it rather than bin it as someone will want it for there retro MTB collection!

Chrome alloy = Chrome-moly, otherwise known as "steel".

What I remember about MTrax was that it was Raleigh's attempt to launch a credible product in the then burgeoning market for MTBs. As I recall they were actually okay. But Raleigh had been peddling (pun intended) such utter crap for so long that no one cared and didn't buy them.

In fairness it did a decent job and was about right for my level of ability at the time, I had done motocross until my early twenties but it was getting harder to fine anyware local to ride due to people not wanting noise near housing.

My memories of Raleigh were that they had been a great brand having had a number of original Carltons (they had a lifetime frame guarantee and I got a new frame on a 10 year old bike) but I think they got sold from when it was tube investments and they went after mass market but then in later 80`s tried to break back into various types of competition bikes.

Looks in very good condition from your picture, I would say someone on one of the Retro forum would be happy to part with cash for it....
