The First Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb by Leslie Wilson 1905
The first competitive climb at the first meeting was by William Montague Haunt, driving a French 10/12 HP Motobloc, although he failed to reach the finish.
At the Shelsley Walsh 100th birthday celebration for MAC members, the first run up the hill was by David Haunt, great nephew of the first competitor.
Ernest Instone, who achieved the very first FTD with his 35 HP Daimler, went on to found Stratton-Instone Ltd, who, as Stratstone, now own the cottage opposite the paddock.
The JDHT sent their similar 1903 35 HP Daimler to open the Centenary meeting.

As is Simon Taylor's "The Shelsley Walsh Story".Of all the British motorsport venues, I think Shelsley Walsh is the most evocative (and a good cardiovascular workout for spectators
).Hawnt is correct (should've read the entry list, not the video subtitle!).
