Feels like Xmas

3 yrs ago I got into Porsche ownership with a 986 3.2s Boxster 2003, coming from a number of family and company cars it felt like it was from a different planet and a loved every minute, even had some lessons to improve my driving, but last year I started to get that 911 itch and got the go ahead from the pay master general.
The hunt for a 996 C4S begun, it was after the first couple that, (ok it was a different car) but it felt like sitting in my boxster with the same layout with two more gauges, so I turn to a 997 S .1, but they just never seem right, nice cars but never gave that first feeling I got from my Boxster and my budget was tight for a good 997 (25k)with Porsche Warranty or Hartec.
I was just giving up hope when the wife said have you this, (she was never to keen on the 911 idea anyway) well course I have, but when I said about these models you told me you didnt like them, well she said I love this one, so the rest is History as they say, we are picking it up Monday, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas Day, can't sleep or think about anything else hope writing this might help.
Sorry to bore you but had to tell someone, I know this car is not every ones cup of tea but for me its what I was looking for just didn't know it at the time.

Very nice cars those, 1st saw one when a client and his friend had both picked up their new cars from an OPC same week, one had a Cayman design
edition the other a black 997.1 turbo tip, at the time parked next to each other I preferred the Cayman and could not work out how the turbo was twice the price.

A genuinely gorgeous car. The DE ones are that little bit special, too, even if mostly for the badge!
I almost got one of these but ended up with a standard 2010 S, also in black. I still think it is the best-looking car that I see most days (and I park alongside a lot of Porsches, Jags and even, dare I say it, Astons - which are always bigger in the flesh than I would like).

Bagged me one of those just before Christmas. I must say that, so far, I can report that I LOVE IT! I was a lucky chap really as it is low mileage (25k now tho'!) and came with a sports exhaust (sorry to anyone who I may have overtaken and made their ears bleed!) and the full case with all it's contents, untouched to date. The driving experience in this car is sublime but that is what it is all about isn't it? Can't wait for the good weather to arrive so I can see what it is really capable of. I hope you enjoy the car as much as I do chap!

I actually like how these cars handle in the wet. You can get that "too much power for the back tyres" feeling for which you normally need a bit more power. In the middle of a really nice drive through the Cotswolds on Sunday (raining heavily most of the weekend), I was a bit heavy with the throttle overtaking a lorry and the back end did a little dance before re-establishing traction.
What a very astute Lady you have,to notice the difference from a 911.Many years ago, I tried to get used to a 911 Carrera-ducktail- just after their introduction.I had been running a Real CSL but was rear ended at a wet traffic light, and it got written off.
I got rid of the 911 after 4 weeks, not my silky smooth CSL.Many years have passed with ZMCoupes and Alpinas in the stable, But now--a chance view of a Cayman-------- a very low milage 2.7 Speed yellow, has brought me back to Porsche world---LUV IT--Yes!!! Christmas once again.

Just got back from a 200 mile journey after picking my car from up OPC Sheffield (big thanks to them great deal and service and car was just how they discribe it), shame about the weather but what a car Iam so pleased with it, its everything I thought it would be plus the wife loves it, I have had a black car before and swore I would never have a another one what with all the cleaning they need to keep them looking good, however when the cover was removed in the show room it was love at first sight and forgot all about the hours with buckets and wash mits etc.
I thought my Boxster was good but this thing felt so sure footed even in the wet, we live in West Wales so I plotted the trip home so I could do a cheeky lap of the EVO Triangle (rude not to)I have done it in the boxster before but in this car my smile was even bigger, cant wait for some dry weather.
Already planning to get some proper instruction so I can use the car for how it was intended, right, now back to the manual and some bed time reading.
