hi can any one tell me the diameter and thicknes of the outriger tubes when new were thay metric or imperel can the body be lifted juist enough to run a weld over the top when fitting new tubes

Inch and a half or 38mm in that modern stuff x 1.5mm wall thickness.

Yes a body lift does give plenty of room to weld an S Series.......






Or a Chimaera (careful you don't catch the bodywork with the angle grinder





Or a Taimar (am I boring you yet )

If you search around the TVR forums you'll find talk of using thicker tube, stainless tube, galvanised tube etc.



I think most people use a sleeve inside where they join to original tubes, this wouldn't be such a good fit if matching up two different bore tubes

1.5mm has lasted 20+ years and well protected should last another 20+ easily (imho)
