Howdy all,

I have really enjoyed reading through the pages and pages of photo diaries in the stickies above.

I thought I would share our epic honeymoon roadtrip plans across europe which kicks off in early May.
And FYI, we are from New Zealand so any trip to anywhere tends to be epic in our eyes!!

If anyone has any thoughts on places we may have missed or must do things in the areas we are heading them that would be much appreciated!

And to the itinerary:

3 days after the wedding in New Zealand we touch down in London. We are spending a few days in London, Liverpool and Cardiff catching up with family and friends.

From London we are catching the train over to Paris where we are staying for a day or so to take in the sights (and probably some pastry).
We then get on the TGV and shoot down to Marseilles to meet up with my cousin and pick up our new Citroen DS3 lease car.

After spending a day and a night in Marseilles we are going to drive across to Nice where we are staying in a B&B. The best part about this is that my then wife has bought me (us) tickets to the Monaco GP as a wedding present!! Cant complain can I??? Section K by the pool if anyone cares to know.

So after spending Saturday and Sunday in Monaco we are going to make our way up to Florence. This can take a day or two and we are going to wing it a bit as far as where to stay etc.

From Florence we head to Rome to do Romey stuff. Probably a walking tour of some kind.

Next we head to the Amalfi Coast where we are staying at a Hotel right on the cliffs above the beach. We are there for about 3 days. This is the "honeymoon" part of the trip...

After leaving the Amalfi Coast we are going to drive north across to the east coast of Italy and stop in at a few places yet to be decided. We will likely stay in San Marino for a night and I will make a sneaky trip to Imola to have a look at the Senna statue/tribute.

From there we are skirting around Milan and dropping into Monza to see what we can see.

Then onto Zurich to meet an ex-pat NZer who we will stay with for a couple of days or so.

Next, Kempten in Germany to visit some good German friends that my partner knows. Lots of looking at castles and eating chocolate I suspect. I will also try and get to Hockenheim to visit Jim Clarks memorial.

Due to time constraints we are skipping Munich and heading straight up to Stuttgart. Porsche museum should be a highlight.

From Stuttgart we are driving to Frankfurt where we are dropping off the Citroen and flying to Berlin.

In Berlin we are going to do a lot of walking and I am looking forward to taking in all the history.

Right, now things get serious...

We fly from Berlin on the 13th June back to Cologne. At Cologne Airport we are hiring a cheap rental and driving straight to the Nurburgring where I have hired a stage 2 Swift from Rent4Ring for half a day starting early in the morning on the 14th. FYI, Dale has been awesome to deal with, so easy!

After running 6 laps or so it will be back in the car to Cologne to drop the rental car off and to fly back to London with a day or two to spare before flying back to New Zealand.

Phew!

I will be sure to upload a diary with photos afterwards to compliment all the other great blogs.

And as I said at the beginning, any feedback would be much appreciated.

Sounds brilliant!

If the weather is good when your heading up from Zurich to Stuttgart I'd suggest you try and stop off at the Neuschwanstein Castle near Fussen as its a short drive and not too much of a de-tour (it looks amazing in the pictures - when we stopped off it was in the clouds though) - the Castle that the disney one was based on

Actually visiting that castle is in my partners itinerary. That is the ones with all the swans right?? I think we are going there for the day when we are in Kempten.

Cheers for the recommendation though!

That sounds absolutely epic Rob, I am especially Jealous of your trip to Monaco for the GP!!

I am a New Zealander as well, currently living in London. Fiance and I are getting married next year, and we plan on doing a European road trip for our honeymoon. (Won't be doing Monaco F1/Nurburgring though, the Mrs is not a motorsport fan).

Hope you have an amazing time (I can't see it being anything other than incredible), and please do share your pics here!

Hey Matt, Kiwis are everywhere smile

My fiance quite enjoys the history and all the nitty gritty facts about motorsport so that helps!

Not long to go now!

Sounds fab, enjoy smile

Becareful driving into Florence, you need to check it out with the car, I'm pretty sure you need to buy a pass or something to enter the centre of the city, even if its just to drop your luggage at the hotel. Worth checking.

Stuttgart Porsche Musueum well worth a vist.

Have a great time.

Cheers,

Thanks for the heads up about Florence. We are likely to stay on the outskirts of most bigger cities and get a train or bus so that driving and parking does not become too much of a pain.
