Hopefully not a wee-post.
You'll all know about the Rapha / Strava challenges. Do X KM's between this date and this date...

Don't get me wrong, it'll have been full on towards the end. However, it's really not that big a deal. Lots of audaxers will do this regularly, albeit 400km in ~18hrs, few hours kip, and 200km to finish the 600km is the usual pattern on a flattish route
It's really not as hardcore as it seems - I'm not saying that to diminish what they did; rather so that other people aren't put off giving it this sort of thing a crack.
Quite a few people on here are doing 300km and 400km events this year. I think both Pablo and I are both doing SR series (200km, 300km, 400km, and 600km in a season), maybe more. If the pattern is as usual, several hundred people will do an SR series for the first time this year. Most of them could do this at a push.
I see Raleigh are doing a 205 mile challenge thing - http://www.raleigh.co.uk/tommygodwin205/
Delighted to see this sort of thing becoming more mainstream. A double century is great fun - just like a century but with more cake and more beers at the end.

Am doing the London to Paris ride in July this year, 450 km in 24 hours. Should be fun.....funnish........hmmm......??
That said, when I raced as a schoolboy and junior my mum and dad used to regularly do 12 and 24 hour TT's. My old man used to clock 700km and the faster guys a fair whack on top of that. Andy Wilkinson 871km in 24 hours (2011) ....sod that!
Cool video though, one of the guys seems to be doing the ride on what looks like a converted MtB with slicks, now that adds to the challenge. Can't help thinking that if they all stuck close and didn't half wheel/gap each other it would have been slightly easier?? Now gonna watch it again for motivation for July......why did I sign up for that?
