After a lot of consideration and research I made the plunge. I went with H&R 20-25mm lowering springs and am very pleased with the end result.

I was very concerned how they would effect handling and have read some horror story's but have to say all is good with mine. I installed myself and made sure all suspension parts went back in the same position as removed. When the springs where fitted and I lowered the lift to see the end result the car sat with fantastic posture but too low to get off the lift arms! Will have to make some 10mm plinths for the car to sit on for the future!

Anyway, took the car out this morning after getting it off the lift and its not effected the handling at all, yes it is slightly more firm but only because I'm looking for it otherwise I might not have noticed - if that makes sense??

The cars posture is now how I believe it should be and looks more How it should!

Before...

After...

I agree the car looks good. Often thought those 997 1 standard alloys were one of the most attractive designs.....yes

Agree with Sidicks the plate looks woeful, spoils the car and apart from being illegal is definitely one for the Crappy numberplates thread........hehe

Already have, had a police officer on the drive about two years ago! Got a warning and lecture and as you can see it had no effect!

That just looks SO good (and I really don't care about number plates, why not have a play if you want to).

I don't know what to do with my wheels - I've got a Cobalt 997.1S - its on Sport Design wheels at the moment. I really wanted Carrera Sports when I bought it, then settled on liking the Sport Design - now erring towards the lobster claws or the Carrera Classics. I think the lobster claws have matured nicely over time...

Molly is right get the car ego checked ASAP. You will likely need it checking again in about six months after the springs and suspension has settled

No not yet, only finished it today but know it needs doing. I have the sports chassis geo settings and plan to get it set to those which are the closest I've found to suit. That said, its pretty good as it is so can only get better after geo.

Needs 5mm spacers at front and 15mm spacers at rear to finish it off.

wide body cars have different offsets so the above is optimum if you really want to fill the arches out.
