Evening All,

I've got issues with my petrol tank on my Austin 7, I treated it with POR-15 when I restored it 3... maybe 4 years ago, and its flaking off and clogging the fuel system... tedious on a regular basis!

Its been suggested that i can treat it with Red-Kote, and possibly even find a company that would treat it for me... does anyone have any experience with this stuff... and know of where I can get Red-Kote in the UK? or of a company that would undertake this for me in the UK?

Next option is a new tank!

Hi,
http://www.sheldrakeandwells.co.uk are a local company to me in Ipswich and are proper "old school" engineers with a modern face. I've had rads repaired and seen some of their fuel tank work in the past and it's exceptional. They used to, and hopefully still do pride themselves on their work and customer service. Long time since I've used them but they've been in business for a while.

Might be worth biting the bullet and getting in touch.

Frosts do a tank sealant that I have used successfully a number of times.

Its a 3 part process, is easy to do and has always worked for me.

Have a navigate through their site, they have some great stuff !

I'll give the Radiator guys a call. I tried the Frosts stuff, which did seem very good, but despite following the steps closely I've obviously mucked it up... as its that that is flaking off and blocking the fuel system!

Fit a good fuel filter on the tank exit?

Done that, but the bits flaking off are big enough to block the feeder pipe in the tank!

I never had issues with POR-15 flacking, always felt it was too rubbery for that.
