996 Tyre Pressures.
Discussion
Read an article in an American mag a while ago by an experienced track-day addict and amateur racer. He was absolutely emphatic that the factory-recommended 996 rear tyre pressures were far too high for normal road use.
Worse roads in America? Hard to tell, but I never like to deviate much from factory figures. Anyone got any theories/facts about this?

If you do a search on "Tire Pressure" on the Rennlist 996 Forum you get a lot of threads similar to this one...

Ian,
I find the factory recommended pressures fine - even in London. Despite my recent posts, I've just had fitted the Porsche 18" Turbo-look alloys (not the gross glossy ones!). I'm very happy with the ride -
36 psi front; 44 psi rear.
However, I'm not (at the moment) planning to get the car lowered as it looks fine as it is with the stock C4 suspension.

Thanks! Slightly nervous about the ride characteristics of the Turbo (due soon) and wondered if anyone had tried the 'soft option'
I used to run most cars 2 lbs below the recommended pressure, but any improvement was probably imagination!
The entire reason for this phobia is my hatred of the punishment the car has to take on so many roads nowadays - you can't even use the apex of a corner any more.
As for Edinburgh...
