Came across this on Youtube yesterday; https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detai...
A Porsche 911F. Anybody have any information on it? Looks beautiful in fairness.

From what I know of the F Series 911 was made around 1972/3. There was a 911T, E and S. But I never saw a 911F model. That's what is puzzling about it for me and why I asked the question.

That F is probably an E with a bit cut or broken off.

I guess that's the only reasonable answer! Thanks lads.

Its the least likely answer, surely?

Why is that?

Because it is an F-Series 911, which is a far more credible explanation to 'E with a bit broken off' (which is lame in the extreme), to me.

They have never badged the series number, that is only an internal code. There is no such badge as 911F.

Since there isn't a 911F and that badge looks whole rather than broken, I would suggest it's a backdate. The wings look to be quite a lot more flaired like the post 74 cars.

I also liked the 914 in the background.

To me that's a 911E badge, that's broken or been cut.

The badge is shown, is it? I had only seen the beginning of the clip. It prompts the question: why was it cut or how could it break? Trim like that used to be extremely cheap too, so why not replace it?

Yup. If you look at it in the vid, then Google '911E' the one in the vid looks very like the 'E' without the btm part of the 'E' IMO.

there has never been a 911F

pre74 badges / stickers / labels as follows:

911
911S
911R
911L
911T
911E
911S
911RS
911RSR

also 911ST & 911TR but can't remember if they were stickered up

Whilst I may have been guilty of not watching all of the video clip, you are plainly guilty of not reading the whole thread.

read the whole thread & everyone has said to you it's clearly an E with the bottom snapped off ... you appear to disagree with everyone thinking there is more to it !

Without speaking to the owner, who knows exactly ... Maybe some scrote tried to prize the badge off the previous night ? maybe he's being rebellious and fitted his own custom badging

The car isnt stock, possible a backdate as it has later dials , later switch gear etc and the usual cheap RS door panels. It's got a 72/73 front spoiler, earlier chrome surround lenses and earlier gold lettering but with rear flares. If it is a backdate it's a nice one

Either way, a 911F is not some undiscovered prototype 911 from 1972 so not really worth worrying about.
