Hello All

yesterday was a sole destroying day and my driving license was revoked on medical grounds (diabetic), (which im totally gutted about) meaning that for 12 months at the least, I am unable to drive.

Me and GF usually head down to Sunday Service meets however her work is getting super busy and most Sundays are looking like she could be working

We are selling our 350z (not just because of this but to go for something different, which due to this is being postponed)

And thought I would put this out there, wondering if anyone in the area if heading down to any SS events this year, has a spare seat and wouldn't mind a passenger if available

regards

T

That sucks! Hope you get your license back ASAP! I would happily take you If I'm going, I'm based in flitwick. May I suggest you put this in general gassing though you'll get a better response! Best of luck.

Sorry to hear this OP - i'm type 1 and it's one of my fears every 3 years i come to renew my license as they're pretty tight on it these days.

Where about in Beds are you located?

Please ignore if you don't want to answer, but i'm interested if this is because of retinopathy/maculopathy or hypo unawareness?

I'm from eaton bray, I don't mind answering, I had two hypos requiring assistance last year, one while I was asleep and one in a gym. Not great.

I had my first 3 year review last year, horrible time.....sending license away for 4-6 months waiting for a reply

Sorry to hear that being diabetic myself it is always something that fears me loosing my license.

I've been diabetic for approx 15 years, and so far fingers crossed all is ok.

Was it purely on the fact you had hypos requiring medical attention ????

Are you using the Dafne method of diabetic control ? as this gives a much tighter control then what I was originally doing for 12years.

Yes that is the only reason, meeting the doc next week to see if i should appeal.

Iv only been diabetic since 2009, nope not on DAFNE, iv never really had a proper diabetic assessment (as in course, control, diet) however I have 4 different appointments in the next couple of months to cover these areas, so hope to get assistance. My control isnt completely crazy however I sometimes used to guess (not anymore) and didnt count carbs, However thats all changing as it was my new years resolution ... smile and iv always tested before driving

I spent 12 years with no real control, got myself on a DAFNE course and control is a lot better.... in Herts they are pushing as many people on to DAFNE method, can't comment on your area..... no harm in asking about it though....

Dafne is a complete course which is designed around doseage adjustment, so you can eat what you want, when you want... and covers everything from adjusting for excerise/sport, being ill ... I highly recomend it.

Good luck with your appeal.
