Cheap Carbon and now for a trainer

Having ridden mountain bikes and even raced them in my teens and early twenties I gave up after an awful ride on New Years Day about 12 years ago.
I've now moved to Jakarta where the only day you can safely get on the road is a Sunday, walking through the hardware store a couple of weeks ago and SWMBO asking what I wanted for Christmas I spy this little beauty for a huge 8,000,000 Rupiah or a more reasonable 400 English Pounds.
Full carbon frame, un-named Shimano groupset but a few nice parts in places, aheadset and cranks seem ok.
Off to a different shop for some Look clipless pedals (Keo 2 Max I think) and a set of road shoes and off I toddle.
Seems very light and responsive compared to my former mid-range MTB's and I think it's a good route towards me not getting any fatter.
Given the traffic conditions and that it is just not safe to ride during the week here I'm now going to push for a TT, looks like the easiest one to buy here is the Taxc Booster which comes in at 330 quid. We are very restricted on choice over here and I think the Tacx brand is the only one available.
Here's to some happy cycling, hoping to be able to cycle a 140km route around Lombok Island in February so a bit of training to do yet.

Crikey, walked into the a local bike store two hours ago with zero knowledge of trainers, asked if they had any in stock and the chap pointed at the only one in the widow display. Asked how much and after a 10% discount it was 2,580,000 Indonesian Rupiah which seemed reasonable considering a Tacx Booster goes for more than double that.
That's 130 pound in real money which turns out to be a real bargain for a Minoura 760, and there was I thinking everything imported here was stupidly expensive.
I got the trainer home about an hour ago and set it up and then - HOLY CRAP ON A STICK - Now I see why you call them your torture trainers! My legs were like jelly after about 5 minutes.
Awesome piece of kit and should definitely help me shed the extra pies I've been humping around.
I've only actually bee out on the bike once so far the Sunday before I left Jakarta to spend Christmas in the wet and windy UK. Can't wait to get up to speed on this and hopefully the frame will be good enough for me to upgrade as I get more committed to the sport.

The reason for the complete hatred of Mountain Biking came about on a New Years day ride on Dartmoor. Despite the fact my riding partner was much fitter than me, I wasn't the young whippet I used to be.
Riding an Orange Evo2 Disc with Pace RC35's I also just couldn't keep it upright, I must have come off on the ice 5 times in the first 5 minutes. The car registered -2 when we started and -5 when we got back. At stages I would have been happy to just sit on the ground and let nature take it's course.
After getting home I promptly cleaned the bike and put it up for sale to never ride another bike in earnest for over 10 years.
Where I am now is much better riding weather, although to be a bit cooler would be nice. 30 degrees every single day.
The reason I didn't go for an MTB this time is that I couldn't justify buying a cheap one and would have to spend more than I would like not yet knowing if I want to get back into the sport.
A cheap road bike for now with a decent frameset and we'll see how things go from here.
