Future road trip, needs to be longer help!
Discussion
Hi everyone, me and my girlfriend are planning a road trip this july to Europe in my Alfa Spider.
We have a rough route on where we would like to go and we have allocated 2 weeks to do it, however after the places we have decided on it only comes to around 10 days.
Day 1 drive to folkestone get the train to calais then stay in calais
Day 2 drive to the Nurburgring
Day 3 a lap of the Nurburgring and then to Strasbourg
Day 4 drive to Lucerne
Day 5 Drive to lake como including the gotthard pass (not sure on spelling)
Day 6 spend at lake como
Day 7 drive to milan
Day 8 drive to Geneva
Day 9 drive to Paris
Day 10 spend in Paris
Day 11 Drive back home
Any help or advice on our current stop overs would be much appreciated or any other places of interest to stop over would be a great help!
thanks in advance

Re: day 5
From Lucerne you can easily take in the Grimsel and Furka Passes (which then lead to the St. Gotthard Pass). I'm pretty sure you could fit one, may two, more Alpine passes in as well. Last year, day 2 for us involved Freiburg to Desenzano (on Lake Garda) via the Grimsel and Furka Passes and we killed it in 7 hours including lots of stops for pics and a very relaxed late lunch in Bellinzona.

I've just written up my road trip. Best advice is stick to 250 miles per day. Thats a nice easy drive each day and you had spare time to have a decent but of lunch. There is no point going on a driving holiday if you are too tired to enjoy it!

P.S. an Afla Spyder might need a big tool box :-P Although the convertible is the best way to go!

We did a trip last year, but opposite direction. You could do Lucerne to a Gotthard/Furka/Susten and Grimsel figure of eight then on to Como in a day, we stayed in Bellagio on Lake Como.
From Garda you can do (can't remember its name) the pass just before Bormio (very narrow road, sheer cliffs and no barrier) and then Stelvio and stay near the Austrian/Italian border. Then from there a bit of a blat across Austria and then some lovely Black Forest roads to Strasbourg.
Actually if you're already heading to Strasbourg earlier in your trip just reverse what I said above then from Lucerne you can get to the Champagne region in a day.
I may still have out route on google maps if you want?

thanks for all the responses, and yes if you could post a link to your route that would be helpful, going to do a research on what everyone has said and try and decide where is going to be best for us!From Garda you can do (can't remember its name) the pass just before Bormio (very narrow road, sheer cliffs and no barrier) and then Stelvio and stay near the Austrian/Italian border. I can't find them all but here's a couple of routes, they weren't our final routes but close.
From Strasbourg to Switzerland go East and then pick up route 500 south through the Black Forest, some great bits of road there.
Stelvio and Lake Garda

Lake Como, Swiss passes to Lucerne - Worth stopping at the Rhone Glacier on the Furka Pass

We set up our own routes then got Scenic Car Tours to book hotels/crossing etc, they have a good knowledge of "car friendly" hotels and put us in some nice hotels at what we thought were very reasonable prices http://www.sceniccartours.com/
