Help with a Womans bike

A friends wife is looking for a road bike. She had her heart set on a Ruby, but can't justify £1900.

Her budget is £1000. I have stipulated it needs 105 minimum, the rest is up to you. any of you seen hidden sales gems out there worth looking at? it must be a 52.

Rival good enough? I have Rival and 105, prefer the feel of Doubletap.

My personal choice for an awesome winter bike however is a cx on road tyres. The discs are amazing in the wet compared to rim brakes.

One other suggestion, you could scrape a 2014 Boardman Pro Carbon into budget - if you took advantage of the various discounts and waited for another of halfords frequent 10% off weekends.

I was going to suggest a Merckx AFX, but it's only Tiagra. Still a great bike - my wife has one.

There's a hell of a lot of choice at that price point.
On the bright side you shouldn't have any trouble getting the spec at budget.

The Supersix in a 54 might fit... Cannondales have a shorter reach than many bikes.

Is it just me or does that seem very pricey for the spec?
The same budget creep would get a Boardman Pro Carbon SLR (£1300 ish depending on offers) with full ultegra (including wheels), a decent carbon frame and its 11 speed ultegra rather than the old ten...

Is she is a big lass or petite?

If petite I'd look at something like a kuota korsa lite. They can be specced with slimmer bars, shorted cranks etc.. which mean a bespoke bike at a normal price. Whilst the 105 is normally £1099 I bought one for a friend last year at under £1000 thought Tribeca in Southborough, so the deal should be available anywhere!
