Chaps,
Apologies for posting this here rather than in the business section but I need a fairly quick reply.
I've got a second interview with Lidl today to work in their property team. I was wondering whether anyone out there knows any interesting information about them, particualy regarding how good an employer they are.
Thanks,
Phill

There's a girl i know who's a barwoman now and she's a hard worker, she went to Lidl,s briefly and couldn't stand the hours they made her work, but i suppose it depends what kind of person you are,if you want long hours then it will suit you, they just demanded she work long, inconvenient hours but i suppose you can say that about a lot of employers.

Well thanks for the constructive comments chaps.
Regarding the hours, I'd be working on the construction of new stores rather than in them so that may or may not be an issue.
Anyway, any info on how they treat employees, employee turnover etc would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Phill
Don't Do it Phill!!!
Someone I have now lost touch with went to work in the acquisitions department of one of these discounters - sorry, can't remember if it was Aldi or Lidl. He hated it. He could never get decisions out of the directors about locations he found, and then got a load of grief because he wasn't securing the sites!

Actually, for German beer you can't get anywhere else, Lidl is tops.
I applied for a bit of work over the summer at Lidl a few times. It seems they couldn't stand the fact that I could string a sentence together without swearing, or the fact I didn't shout everything, and this was after losing three application forms.
Should be a different deal for security staff though.

Ah! Seen the odd advert in the papers and knowing how good German beers are I thought they might be worth a look.
Any personal recommendations?
As a slight hyjack, recommendations of other Euro brews welcome too. Coughing up £3 each for Leffe can be a bit much.
Hoping there might be some unknown gems available as alternative to the pricey imports (Leffe, Budvar, Urquell .etc.).
They do one called Graffenwalder. Came across it in France at 39p a can, and over here it's 59p. Cheaper than Skol, so you're expecting something vile, but pour it into a Stein and it's in the export Stella league.
They also do one in packs of six large bottles, Birnbaum I think it's called, all very good, and I'm sure they've had Aylingerbrau there before now.
Anyway, they've got loads of the stuff there. If you're stocking up for a party and want to not only save money but have something a lot nicer than cheap'n'nasty Carling, it's well worth a visit.
