I have managed to land a great new job about 10 miles north west of central Nottingham. I currently live in Lincoln and it's a little bit far to commute long term (distance isn't so bad but it's on minor roads and slow going). I've been offered relocation, but don't really want to sell up and move.

I'm looking to rent a flat somewhere west of Nottingham centre, near the A610 ideally, in a decent area, but still close enough to the city for nights out. I used to live in Carlton, but don't know the western side of the city that well.

Any tips appreciated.

Why not rent in Nottingham and commute out? I would rather live in a nice flat in/near the centre than somewhere like Heanor etc

Yes mate, that's what I'm thinking...possibly somewhere just a mile or 2 out from the centre....maybe somewhere like Beeston??

Nuthall is also not a bad call and good for the A610/M1 and not too far out of the city.

The Park if you can stretch to it. You'd be commuting against the traffic so should be a glide. Plus, your TVR deserves a nice place to stay from time to time. And the city centre is an easy walk. Otherwise bits of Beeston are great & it has a nice centre for shops, bars, restaurants.

Beeston will have a good link to the city when the tram is complete next year. Also Chilwell and Toton may be worth considering for the same reason.

Have a look at Mansfield area. Only about 12 miles north from Notts down the A60 and prices are a lot cheaper

I don't know what your price range is, but I lived in one of these flats for six months and it was great.

They are on the small side, but the bedroom was big enough for a king size bed, and more importantly, it includes a free parking space. Its quite segregated from the surrounding area, which can be a bit dodgy. I never had any problems while living there, everyone tends to keep themselves to themselves.
