Hardcore/Nu-Energy mix (download available)
Discussion
Not sure if this will be anyone's cup of tea or not but I know there are a few people on here who like the faster/harder side of dance music...
This is a 45min 10 track taster mix I've put together ahead of an extended hardcore mix that me & a mate are looking to put together over Christmas.
I've included a few different styles into the 45mins and it hopefully gives a good idea of what to expect in the full mix.
Anyway, download, listen, and enjoy- 170bpm is just what you need on a Monday morning!

Funny you should mention Lab4, I'm a huuuuuuuge fan of theirs! My first taste of the hardhouse/hard trance scene was seeing them live one New Years Eve around 2001/2002. Subsequently went to several of their live shows, and then to Adam's solo DJ performances after they went there seperate ways, then saw them again at their first show back as Lab4 when they played at the Tidy homecoming in Sheffield a few years ago.
The last two tracks in the mix have more in common with hardhouse/hard trance (just slightly faster) whilst the first 8 are more traditional hardcore.
Fair play for giving it a listen though, my trance mixes normally get a few listens from here but I have to say I wasn't expecting much from this one!

If you get a moment (after listening to the mix of course conclusion, ketamine is for horses you dumb mother fu**ers!!
) go onto youtube and check out the video- either to the darren styles remix i've used or the original hardstyle version (it's the same vid), it is, er, random!
amazing how one thing leads to another. Thank you so much OP
Because of you i have found a track i have not been able to remember the name of, let alone find it anywhere to listen to. I have had it in my head since 1983.
So, you post a link to a mix on soundcloud. Mix finishes in the background while i work away and it automatically goes on to something else. I check soundcloud and think, hmm, fancy some old school 80's hiphop. It then takes me to thinks i might like, one of them being the old electro albums which i had forgotten all about.
I then play a mix based on that era and 25 minutes in to an hour mix my long lost song comes in!!! - the one i remembered was an instrumental but this one had lyrics so i typed a few lines of the lyrics into google and BAMM!
i have my track.
What was the track? Information Society - Running
If you love your 80's electro and electronic music, you will LOVE this!!

Did find the last two more palatable.
Lot of crossover really through people like Billy Bunter,Jon Doe etc
One of the earlier/the first fullLab 4 albums had a live @ escape from samsara cd from a night that I went to,still the best set I ever heard, the place just exploded!

Yes very true, I'm a big fan of the 'hardscape' stuff that those two were a big part of along with clsm etc, in fact one of my favourite tracks is the hardscape mix of Billy Bunter's "Power Builds" done with clsm.Lot of crossover really through people like Billy Bunter,Jon Doe etc
The Hardscape / Nu Energy stuff is probably my favourite of the hardcore scene as it's basically hardhouse/hard trance but at 165+ bpm. Love it!

Lab4 certainly knew how to put on a live show! I think my favourite time I saw them was when they played a venue local to us- but rather than play the main room they ended up in a kind of upstairs function room that held barely 100 people- we were squeezed in there, the volume was cranked right up, and it was the middle of summer so water was being thrown everywhere- it was insane
Oddly enough they were never invited back!
