Well,

I told you about it's demise and here's the evidence. Thanks to Subaru for keeping me in one piece! I walked away with bruises 'n' scratches

That's pretty scary - glad to hear you're (virtually) unharmed. Seeing stuff like that on a regular basis (I go to lots of bodyshops as part of my work) keeps me cautious in the Griff. I know I'd be up st creek if I overstepped the mark...

Hope you don't get too battered by your insurance company - they can be aeholes at the best of times.

Good lad. That's much more impressive than my effort last week. I don't think I can see a straight panel on yours and my airbag didn't go off. Have you decided on a replacement yet? I've (well my mum) ended up getting a bloody Yaris

Still its got power steering, ABS to stop me in the wet , and a cool digital speedo

Nice clump of earth you got there too!

Yikes...not pretty at all. Glad to hear that you are OK.

Very sobering pictures. Will make me think when I'm out today hammering down some road...the result would be quite different in a TVR.

Enjoy the good weather, and Happy and Safe Motoring to all.

being a fellow scooby owner i always wondered if the car would be good in a big impact due to the general tinny feel of the bodywork , but i looks like you had a v. big moment and walked away , so i guess i can push the scooby abit futhre now then

Welllll, if you're going to do a job and all that

Decided not to go for a replacement just yet as I'm working in London at the moment, so the scooby was just a weekend toy... I'll use the wife's car for now until I start getting itchy for another car probably early next year.

The damage to the car was even worse, The gearbox ripped out its mounts, snapped both front driveshafts, smashed the exhaust manifold, ripped off the fuel injection system, moved the whole engine back by 6 inches, and the front offside suspension post is now at 30 degrees off vertical.

Nice

So do you think its a write off? How did the accident happen??

Heh, nah a bit of T Cut and scratch-away and it'll be fine

I think we can safely say it's a write off

It happened on a wet and greasy bend North of Hove last weekend. Too much speed, too little skill and whoops. Going back to the corner, there was the multi coloured sheen of diesel on the road, but if I hadn't been going so fast, it wouldn't have been a problem.

Just one of those things

That looks a bit messy.....I assume the farmer whose field is stuck in the door wasn't too happy either???

Looks like the car stood up to it pretty well, in any event.

Pity it's not mine.

It's the rather ironically titled "accident repair centre" in Worthing.

Just found out that the contents of my glovebox (including radar detector) have mysteriously "vanished" during the recovery process. Well fcuk me, I couldn't have guessed that was going to happen. Thieving gypsy c*nts.

Many other cars would have completely disintegrated, Scooby's do seem to have a degree of strength and resiliance, wouldn't like to test it in my own though!

Glad you were OK

Mr ap-smith - I once rolled an MGB roadster, lots of cuts n bruises. Came back to the car the next day to get shades, stereo, speakers, tapes etc - only to find gypos at work taking everything they could get their grubby mitts on!! I was lucky not to be killed in the accident but the gypos didnt know that someone wasnt killed and yet they were stealing everything. I was more saddened than angry. Tossers!

Thieving pikey bastards! Not all garages are like that though. The place my motor went took out the stereo, speakers, some loose change, my house key and a polaroid of the Comma girls () for me to collect. Not bad really. I didn't begrudge them the few packs of Twiglets and old copy of the Sun that were clogging up the rear footwell.
