Can any one let me know how to remove the ski slope on a DB9 Touchtronic? I am considering replacing the gear change buttons on my 2007 MY DB9 for the later glass ones.

Thanks

Steve

It is secured with 4 fixings one in each corner.

When I did it I unclipped the sat nav cover and reached into the opening and tugged the slope so that the windscreen end would come off first. Then the button end which has fairly short cables so be careful when it loosens as you don't want to damage anything.

There is another way which requires levering the sides of the slope but I never tried this.

The pressure applied has to be firm but when the clips let go you need to stop tugging so take your time. All the buttons just unclip and are designed to only fit into one cable. You can then unclip the buttons and add your new ones in.

It just pops off from the front.

I used a flat blade protected by heat shrink so i did not damage the trim

Stick it down the gap at the front on the side and prize up.

Yes, this is the best method i.e...

Open Satnav
Unclip the cover from either side of the screen
Close satnav (so the cover is now loose and doesn't retract down)
Gently pull both sides of the ski slope upwards by holding either side of the satnav opening
The windscreen end will release first (two clips)
Then rotate ski slope towards you and remove the 5 electrical connections to the switches (dont worry about which is which - you cant get it wrong).

One small word of warning...make sure you take care with the flap once the ski slope is removed - its possible for it to rotate against the ski slope and chip it.

I would suggest you buy some Car trim removing tools of ebay about £15.00 Money well spent if you want to avoid marking anything.

No tools required and it isn't hard at all if pulled from the correct place. I did quite a detailed thread on it somewhere (will find when I get home) and it's MUCH easier doing it that way than using any kind of tools.

Has anyone here got experience of taking apart a Garmin sat nav ski slope? The garmin nav doesnt have wire clips that are easily released from behind, I'm just trying to work out what is the first step in the process to get the ski slope off so I can get mine replaced? Sadly no videos online about garmin nav ski slope. Thanks Jim

Have a look at the video on your use by Aston 1936 - he talks you through it. Not too difficult and shouldn't take you long (also suggest you get a set of trim tools from amazon to minimise chance of damaging anything).

Good luck

I have had the one on my '11 Virage off a few times. There are no clips and the sat nav unit comes off with the ski slope.
