Veloces - good or bad?
Discussion
So I'm looking to buy a Brera S 3.2, and of course in my search I have come across Veloces the Alfa specialist. I have heard mixed things about them, buy having never been there myself I have nothing to compare that against. My first impressions are that they seem somewhat over priced. Anyone have any experience with them or know any more than I do? Any help would be massively appreciated.
As you said mixed things. They have lovely cars that are really well prepped, offer lots of different services to compliment your purchase and they are nice guys. I approached them when I was looking for a 2.2 Brera S and needed to trade in a Golf and they insisted on valuing the Golf using webuyanycar.com. Think it was a tactic to try and set my expectations low but it backfired when the valuation came in higher than expected. They struggled to match it.
Of course when I got home I did the same with their Brera and it came in nearly the same price as the Golf except they wanted about £5500 on top of the px, the nail in the coffin (pretty car, poor engine).
I once did see them threaten someone who posted negatively about their experience. But Ive seen lots of people who have been really happy.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy a car from them if they had exactly what I wanted and was willing to pay for it.

I bought my last two cars from them - the GT and the 159 (and traded in my 145 and GT with them in the process).
I really like them. They are not pushy, and are happy for you to drive anything in stock without obligation, which many dealers don't nowadays.
As long as you've done your homework, and don't take the piss, they are happy to negotiate on sale price / px, but not excessively. When I bought the 159, I put together a snag list of things I wanted sorting after a couple of weeks of driving the car, and they happily put them all right, including the order of a spare key as the original spare was missing. Again, no quibbles.
Haven't had any servicing done there, so can't comment on that side of things, but I will definitely go back for the next Alfa.

I bought my 156 from Veloces in 2004 when it was 3 years old (and had already depreciated like crazy). I found the transaction to be pleasant and trouble free. I have not used them since, but that is not because of any negative vibes. I get the car maintained somewhere closer to home and have not been in the market for another modern Alfa since then.
They prepare and present their cars to an impressive standard, but they charge a hefty price.
For servicing, I'd definitely avoid them - overpriced and I've heard the quality of their work can be quite inconsistent. I've found that the Alfa Workshop in Royston offers a fantastic service (great bunch of guys there and great value) and Autolusso are good as well.
Oh and as a Brera S owner, well done on your choice
I love my 2.2 S - I couldn't face the costs of the 3.2, although the noise alone justifies it
