Did a cursory search for the subject, but didn´t find any. I live in Finland, which is pretty far away from everywhere. It would take a couple of days just to get to the Alps while driving my own classics. That is why I started to think about flying to the area and renting a suitable car. So far the nearest places that I have found are in Nice and Rome.

Does anyone have any info a rental company for having fun in the alps? Not looking for a supercar. A classic sportscar with good visibilty, a Caterfield, 70´s Alfa Spider, Ferrari 308 GTS. etc would be the kind of vehicle I am looking for.

I'd have thought a few minutes Googling "Munich classic car hire" or better
"Innsbruck car hire" or even maybe Salzburg would get you somewhere.

Here's one

A long time ago, it used to be possible to rent a 911 in Munich.
About 1000DM a day, so that shows you how long ago.

^^ Great set up, but located in a country that I´d end up killing myself with driving on the wrong side of the road.

I thought so too.. Munich is a bit far from the Italian alps, as the typical daily kilometer allowance would get you only half way to the target. As this forum seemed pretty quiet, I posted the question also to the Classic car forum, and we had a pretty good discussion over there:

Looks like these guys hire modern stuff for use in the Alps.

Some neat info on roads/routes on their website also.

You might have to brave the 981's electric steering... smile

I can't help with the car hire but if you want a few days driving properly then I would suggest other Alps areas unless you really want to tick the Stelvio off your list.

Well, Stevlio is the most obvious target. These are the other routes I have considered.
