Anyone planning on doing this? http://www.rapha.cc/festive-500-2013
Apparently my leave pass is dependant upon my getting the decorating done before Christmas.
Wifey says I'll be in too much pain to be riding without my balls, if the painting isn't finished
ETA:
That works out at about 40 miles per day, at a time when I'll be in demand as a Taxi shifting family around various relatives' houses. I may have to give this a miss after all, just from a practicality point of view.

So it's 500 km in 8 days...
500/8 = 62.5 km / day
or in 'proper' terms...
310.69/8 = 38.84 miles / day
For me, at my pace on the roads, that'll take approximately 21.5 hours, or 2 hours 40 minutes every day for eight days. That's do-able, just, if I get 3 hours a day spare over that period, but as soon as I factor in relatives visiting, and being visited, and the possibility of losing days to weather etc, trying to catch up if I miss a day puts it nearer 6 hours, and that writes a whole day off. I might still enter, but I don't realistically see how I can manage to fit that much cycling into those particular eight days, as it seems a tad selfish when you have family around you, making (altogether reasonable) demands on your time. Hey-ho. We'll just have to see how it goes....

Did it and completed it last year.
Work and the leggy Czech being here for Christmas this year means there is no point me even attempting.
This makes me sad.

I figure I've got a 50 mile mini sportive on the friday - with a ten mile ride to get to it and ten back. (The cog cafe in tring if anyone is going :-) )
45 mile club ride on the sunday.
That's 115 done...
Christmas is at my sisters and I'm cycling over so that's 30 miles in for xmas day.
145 done...
So there's just 4 more days to pull in 41 miles a day.... I think I can do this if my legs hold out! (Doing 140 a week atm and my legs are feeling it!)

Finished it today. 316 miles or 509km's in 6 days, did not go out crimbo day and I was shooting and beating on the Saturday. So I had some reasonable size rides to pull the miles in a 66 and a 62, which I know is not a lot of miles but its hard work in these b
d head winds and rain we have had. Still glad I have done it and its not as easy as you would think (unless you live in the Fens and have a constant tailwind).
