No cage and half leather seats, both options and desirable or not depending on your point of view.
The lack of a cage is rare and seemingly unpopular , half leather would be an advantage or at least 50:50
A replacement half cage is possible to retro fit as it bolts in, expensive though and really needs painting,

I prefer the half leather to nomex so that wouldnt bother me however why have an RS if not going the full hog? Surely just go standard GT3 and spec the buckets?

Well, another 20 bhp, lower gearing and a titanium rear box, more spectacular rear wing and slightly sharper drive.

But, yes, a vanilla GT3 is not a £20k less good car.

Why oh why have they seemingly cut and paste the car into that background. It looks dreadful. Extremely poor job.

Yes strange to order a RS without a cage, Nick Whale's white and gold one again has no cage. Put me off both cars I have to say

Good spot Slippydiff, but I am going to stick my neck out here, the white and gold one that Nick used to own has had a cage installed, only then it sold. This was one of the cars I was looking at and did not go to see as it was not caged. My point still stands, no cage difficult to sell. I wonder if the grey and red car will end up with a cage.

I'm pretty sure you can't add a cage as a non-CS doesn't come with the chassis brackets...

I remember that car, he had taken the cage out and stored it somewhere.

Aren't all RS's Club Sports anyway, I thought they were. You could delete the cage or unbolt it and take it out but the RS was still a CS.

In that case if you delete the cage how come the seats aren't nomex...

IIRC you could order one of 2 seats (Folding buckets and Carrera GT fixed buckets like the Gen 1) and 3 upholstery options including the standard, which is Nomex.I may well be wrong but I thought there was no club sport option on the RS, that was standard, though you could still delete some items by choice.

Can't retro fit a CS cage to a Gen 2 997 GT3 RS = Internet myth.

On Saturday I spoke to an individual who's removed and refitted two Gen 2 GT3 RS CS cages, he's also retrofitted at least one. As I understand it, any information that the necessary brackets/fittings in/on the shell that allow fitment of the cage aren't present in a "non-Clubsport" spec car, are erroneous.

I also spoke to my local OPC on Friday. I established that getting hold of a cage from Porsche can be problematical as they can only be obtained by quoting a relevant chassis number (and even then, questions may be asked) This was confirmed by the individual who'd retrofitted a cage.

I retro fitted a genuine CS cage to my 997 GT2. The necessary bolting points were already there, we simply cut around the carpet to expose them. The bolting points are also there for the extinguisher. As the 997 GT2 and GT3RS share the same shell, the GT3RS should be the same.

As slippy says above, the only issue was having to give Porsche a VIN no of a genuine CS car in order to acquire said cage, but that wasn't a massive headache really.
