Simple route request

Sometime this week I intend to drive to Roxton (a small town NE of Bedford) from M25/J13. The direct route takes about 1h15. Is there a more interesting route that would take no more than about 2hrs. I don't normally drive up to that area so have no clue as to what the roads are like.

M25/A1(M) to Welwyn
B656 to Codicote and Hitchin
A602/A600/A507 (bypassing Shefford)
A600 to Shortstown and junction with A421
Leave A421 at next junction
A603 then unclassified to Great Barford
Cross the River Ouse by the Anchor Inn
At the cross roads turn right onto Roxton Road

Thanks for the route. Some nice roads and a lot less boring than the motorways. It took about 1h50.
