I thinking of booking a dyno session at that GT-One place. Any one else interested in coming along.

Min's pushing out 271.4 bhp according to JZ, so I'm happy enough.

Scottster's has just been rolling roaded at AmD at 285bhp.

Must be others out there wanting to know the truth about their car's power output though...

Maybe I should get a KN on the rover and get it along!

UV, i might be interested, just for the hell of it. Also to see if the Hayward and Scott claims are true.

Where is GT one?

I think they are north of M25. I'm sure i've played golf near them and it took about 1 hour 20 mins from south london.

I'll get the details.

GT-One are in Chertsey, Surrey.

I use them for servicing but they definately don't have a dyno? You must be thinking of someone else.

Let us know who and when you're going and I'll come and have look.
They sound absolutely amazing on the dyno, all that fabulous noise in an enclosed space.

were those figures below at the wheels or at the flywheel? is it true that you loose about 25% via the transmission etc compared to the flywheel figures that the manufacturers claim.

just got my 16v 'tuned' 205 'shed' dynoed today and it was 170 at the wheels which i was told was about 226bhp, anybody able to confirm the calculation??

Bennno, it varies from car to car, generally fwd lose less than rwd because of less mechanical bits to turn, also larger engined cars generally lose less than smaller engined cars, a large engined rwd may lose about 17-20% a small engined rwd may lose 25%

not much, just 405 16v transplant, gasflowed / ported head, forged gp A pistons, lightened and balanced, gp A peugeot rally cams, twin weber 45's etc.

in a stripped out, rollcaged 205, with very big brakes it goes moderately quickly. Cant wait to get the slicks on it at the weekend, should be interesting.

Had the day off so went up to G-spot motorsport to get the car dyno'd. As with most of the shit I write it takes some explaining so bare with me....

In short, the curves were fantastic, however.....

The Good news:
Torque curve was exceptionally flat, with most grunt coming between 3500 - 6000 RPM. It was measured in thrust (Lbs.) rather than ft/Lbs. So arbitrary numbers....

Max boost came in at 3250 RPM and remained rock steady there after (0.7 Bar). Apparently Porsche is exceptional in this area.

The bad news:
Only 300 BHP at the wheels The problem is the car is running way to rich. Turbo cars should run around 0.89 Lambda units (whatever they are....). I was running around 0.68. Each 0.1 is worth around 20 BHP.

This would tie in nicely with what I would expect the car to put out given it's mods (no muffler).

So what is one to do.........

Well it plays nicely into my hands. I could have the fueling changed which is a bit of a bitch. Or I could leave it exactly were it is and bung on a 1 bar spring and an induction kit. Both mods thrive in rich fuel environments So that's what i'm going to do.

Received a lot of positive comments on the car, and was assured that the shape of the graphs indicated the engine was in excellent condition.

Top place, nice people, definitely going to get my upgrade business.

Oh, how many cool cars did they have GT1's/GT2's/935's..... Bloody great

No dirty whore would come close to the new GT2 and the a 993 Gambella GT 2 600 they had in. The door was sooo light I thought I was going to rip it off when I opened it. Apparently, the guy wasn't happy with 600 BHP, so it's in for a 650 blue print.... Mad as a hatter.

Scrottster, is you misses still on the game?

It already had it fitted. They will be quite common, though. Try Ruf or Haywood/Scott, maybe?

Cat bypass, if its a 964 ya got I'm pretty sure you can get em from Euro car parts Porsche section (in Wembly i think). The Porsche guys are knowledgeable and a whole lot better than some of the halfwits that staff the VW phones
