Hi Guys,

Had my Porsche 997.1 C4S for 5 months now, just got round to posting about it!

The past 9 years I've been a TVR man with a mental 4.5 Cerbera and decided this year I'd make the jump to Porsche which was a gamble as I normally like to be more outrageous & thought it might be too tame! Have to say the past 5 months have been great & I've really enjoyed it, the wife even likes it...a lot!

I'm an engineer & car enthusiast and as with the TVR and Cobra before it I've always maintained them myself to a high standard so thought you might like to see it on a lift in my garage! Did a full service with plugs recently and thoroughly enjoyed it, have to say its far easier to work on than the TVR.

I do however think it sits too high and would like to lower it slightly so does anyone here recommend Eibach or H&R lowering springs from experience themselves. I read loads about it and get very mixed feelings. Not worried about warranty issue as have none and hard ride does not put me off as it'll never been as hard as the TVR!

Your thoughts please.

Cheers
Si

They look better with spacers too - even 5mm Porsche ones are enough and just fill the arches better. Do that before lowering.

Black with Aluminium pack? so silver centre console? I have the other style wheels and yours looks lower than mine. I'll post another picture. Also, mines a 2006 MY but on 55 plate, until I changed it to a private one.

Great choice! I put my 996 onto M030 suspension which made a big difference to the ride height and stability at speed. I believe the P17 sports suspension is the equivalent package for the 997.

Sticking to the theme, here's my first Porsche, again a 997.1 4S. I picked it up last month. Full X51 Power Pack, Porsche Sports Chassis, Porsche Short shift, Sports Chrono, Carbon Pack, Adaptive Sports Seats, amongst other boxes ticked.

Having come from an S1 Elise it's a big change but I've loved every mile so far. It's tucked away on the trickle charger over the winter, can't wait for spring.

Very nice. I have the black/grey bi-colour interior (wouldn't have accepted grey only).

This pic was from when I bought it. Doesn't seem to me that there is much difference in ride height. Personally, untill the suspension is due for replacement, I'm keeping it as is.

I like the yellow and that's a great spec, shame to lock it away until spring though - unless you live in the highlands and that would be understandable.

The blue one came along for me just at the right time as wanted something different, red, yellow or blue. Wasn't bothered about spec but did want a 4s, luckily it came with PSE!! driving

Not seen a black/ grey combination, got any photos?

Thanks. I'm based in Aberdeen. The gritters have been out putting salt down and snow is due this weekend. The car is immaculate so it seems a shame to $hit it up on our winter roads.

Yes, I totally agree! I'm just north of London so our winter is some what mild in comparison.

What a great first Porsche (but then I am biased)

Love the PSE function - it suits the cars dual nature - it can be a real animal one minute and a pussycat the next and PSE adds nicely to that...

Lovely car. Those wheels and the blue body look superb. Congratulations.
Mine is a C2S, basalt black, pictured above. It's my first 911, and I love it dearly.

Featured in PH Carpool also.

Any of you guys going to the PH 911 50th birthday thing at Teddington this Saturday morning? If not but you want to, get in touch with Garlick as they have ten spaces to fill (drop outs) from the 100 invites.

I will be going. Where in North London are you going from? I'm based in NW1, if you fancy it we could meet along the way?
