Plotting a breadcrumb on Edge 200

The only place I've ever created a route for my Garmin (Edge500) is in Strava. 'Dashboard' - 'My Routes' - 'Create New Route' then export/download it to your Garmin device directly. I've no idea how it compares with other sites, but I'm a technophobe of great renown, and I managed to use it just fine 
I use mapmyride, its dead simple to plot a route and the upload process is easy. I'm still surprised how good the route following mode on the 200 is, there is no doubt that you are on the right/wrong route and if you do stray off it, the arrow points you back in the right direction.

not allowed.The breadcrumb feature is hard work/useless at the best of times and IIRC the one thing bikeroute toaster did to make it useable was give you warning before a turn. I used it once for a road ride that I had gone through on google maps the night before and it was fine until you had to make a turn in a village or town where there are lots of other options within close proximity. At this point it became useless and I ended up 2 miles down a road before realising it was the wrong turn.
If I'm riding somewhere new I drive the route in my car first or try to avoid towns/villages.

that would be in order. If you are saving the file as a GPX or TCX direct into the 'Courses' folder it will not appear when you turn the device on !
You need to save the file into the 'New Files' folder. When you unplug your 200 and turn it on the course you have mapped should appear as a listed course.
The Edge converts the GPX or TCX file to a 'fit' file as part of this process. If you plug it back in at a later stage (having turned it on and found the course) you will note that the file is no longer in the new files folder but is in the courses folder (& is now a 'fit' file).
I am about to post up a more detailed how to guide for this with some useful extra course functionality on a website which may be mentioned in my profile - pop back or like us on facebook and i'll have something up in the next couple of days.

Just be aware of its limitations as it is only a line trace of your plotted course and won't include other roads so it isnt a sat-nav. Guess what though - if the line turns left, so do you.
The post i'll put up will include some other useful gems so feel free to keep an eye on the site (or like us on facebook) - its a bit sparse ATM but lots of useful Cycle GPS stuff to go up over the coming weeks.

I'm not a Premium member on Strava, but have managed to create and upload some routes. 'Dashboard' - 'My Routes' - 'Create new routes' and the route creation page includes some basic assistance to point you the right way. When I then uploaded the route to my Edge500, it appeared right where it was meant to. It does have some limitations, as mentioned. The trace sometimes falsely claim that you are 'off route' when you aren't, it doesn't do 'turn-by-turn', and I found it a bit confusing to follow on screen as I wasn't sure what all the info meant. But, it was better than not having it at all. It also didn't like routes that cross over the same road more than once for some reason, trying to send you up the road that you know you want to come back on in a figure-of-eight loop.yellowjack said:

I was puzzled when Dizeee said it was only for Premium users. I created my routes on Strava on October 17th and 18th. Happy to be corrected though.
