Rolls Royce / Rover Meteor V12 27 ltr

Hi chaps,

Having a few beers with a mate the other night who's decided to sell his static despaly fully up and running Meteor engine.. V12 27 ltr its just like the package says "run a Spitfire in your garage"

Don't want to put it on ebay, any ideas where to offer it ?

Pedant warning.

Technically it's a tank motor. A merlin de-tuned for a longer service life.

Also used in the Thornycroft 'Mighty Antar' tank transporter, IIRC.

The tank motors were diesel derivatives of the Merlin, did a two week course on them when I work for RR Military Engines in the 70’s,

Not in the British Army, they were all petrol as we're the Antar versions.

The version in the Antar tank transporter was the meteorite, a cut down V8 version, then they went with diesel later
