I fancy checking my cars performance since getting the remap done. Anyone down here got a VBox I can borrow?

Edit: its a Racelogic Vbox. Not virgin media item. Lol

On a more serious note, Where abouts are you, I'm sure there's a dyno somewhere near you.

I don't know what a Vbox is but there's no substitute for a go on the rollers.

Im in Ringwood. Ktec racing have a dyno but never any weekend slots available. VBox is just a handy performance meter as used by nearly every car testing and tyre testing company in the world. Google Racelogic VBox Mini. Might be on my xmas list.

Ed - Have a look at some of the Apps. My understanding is some of the Road Testers (Monkey Harris I'm sure is one) are even using these as they are getting very accurate. I have one called Dynolicious. Not had chance to use/test properly yet. They are only a few £££'s off the App Store.

(I want a demo on your GoPro Back Pack and Iphone App at the next meeting. I read somewhere you were very impressed!)

My brother has the Scangauge, not sure if that's any use to you. He's still away fighting pirates and the like at the moment, but if I can find it you can use it.

Pretty sure it gives torque, 0-60 and vmax etc. Plugs into a regular OBD port.

Hmm, interesting.

I've used the Torque app but it's not overly accurate, even after spending an hour setting it all up.

I've PMd you regarding a dyno.. wink

Southways have a dyno too, although they're in Fareham and they're usually really busy!

A a box is normally used for 0-60 Gs and alike. A Dyno just gives power/torque. What performance figures are you after?

Vbox does bhp too.

Figures im after are 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile etc. Vbox mini looks ideal.

Yeah but probably not a main feature so probably not anywhere near as accurate as a RR

To measure BHP/Torque you need a Rolling Road. BHP is a calculation from measured Torque.
To measure 0-60 or 0-100 etc needs a time/speed/distance device. IE a V-box which uses GPS to measure these parameters. The more accurate then the more expensive. The limiting factor will be the GPS device. In most cases, a Smart Phone.

All correct. Which is why VBox is the industry standard for testing 0-60 etc.

Unless your Dyno has a Road Simulation function smile
