Porsche dealer discounts

Basically, as much as you can get!
911s, like most sports cars, are seasonal, so nows a good time to buy but December is probably better especially if snow arrives.
I have bought a number of 911s in December and got up to 5 per cent off. But it really depends on the dealer, how desperate they are for the sale and what the car is like.
Start low and you can always increase the offer.......

Cash deal? They make less money on that!
they still like them at the end of dec, I bought my car cash deal in the last week of Dec.if the OPC has not made up their number for the 1/4 and for the year and only needs a few to get target you might even get it at cost.
Don't buy cars now, wait till a few days before xmas.

How much can you realistically first offer below the asking price without be laughed out of the door? percentage wise? 15%?911s, like most sports cars, are seasonal, so nows a good time to buy but December is probably better especially if snow arrives.

Can anyone advise what sort of discount one could expect for a cash deal on a 911 from a main dealer £27 - £30k asking price ?
Impossible to say. depends, depends, depends....The end of month/end of year thing holds some truth, but things are less seasonal than they used to be. Economic upturn, end of year bonuses, the Christmas 'feel good' - doesn't necessarily mean things will be given away, and their end of year may not be Dec.
Also, you will be wanting to find the best car, that best meets your desired spec, not necessarily the one with the biggest discount (perhaps because it has been standing around for a while).
January is also an odd month. Can be quite a lot of p/ex stock as new cars are reg'd, but it's also a popular month for car sales (weather permitting) as many people use the Christmas break to look for cars and realise the days are now getting longer.
It makes sense to negotiate hard, but best to find the right car and not rely too much on the time of year.
"It's not where you start, it's where you finish" they say, but this can sometimes be the same place!
Better to get no discount at all on a perfect car that's competitively priced than to get £5k off one that's £7k over-priced.
The end of month thing can work well in main dealers as they have a bigger picture to look at, but that aside don't lose focus of what you're actually paying and what you're getting for your money - if it's the full asking price but it's a good deal, then it's still a good deal.

I managed 2 or 2.5k (can't remember exactly) off a 35k asking car last december around xmas.
There was also a remaining 9 mth warrantee from the previous owner that they let me keep, so I got 2 years 9 months warrantee on it. (that may be worth asking for if they're not moving on the last 1k or so)
I may not be the best negotiator in the world though!

Someone will buy it to benefit from the warranty
good call - thats me ! done a lot of reading up on these 911s, and the bare facts seems to be 5% go, so 95% don't, so you pays your money and risks it, or gets a warranty. I can afford the car, but NOT a one off £10k + bill for new engine. Some of the well respected indies mentioned on here only offer 6 months, that's simply not enough for me, even 1 yr is too short. 2 yrs is acceptable, then make a decision to either sell it and enjoy the experience, or to carry on minus warranty. That said, Im not going to pay too many thousands over the odds, hence my original post...maybe I will try the Xmas eve offer...matthall said:

You will either pay a few thousand more and get a long warranty from an OPC, or pay less elsewhere and get less cover. It'd be lovely to be able to do both, but that just doesn't add up.Did you realise you can buy a Porsche warranty after owning the car just 90 days? If you're intent on having that length of cover then doing it that way might widen your purchase options.

Needs to pass the 111 point check first though , which could be expensive if it has non porsche parts fitted.Did you realise you can buy a Porsche warranty after owning the car just 90 days? If you're intent on having that length of cover then doing it that way might widen your purchase options.
