Looking at getting a smart tv

its a Samsung 32 inch screen for £300 not 1080 hd buy due to screen size not an issue (say reviewers)

reviews on the river are good

before we cancel SKY and get one

I get this so get free to view and Netflix catch up etc through the broadband connection ?

I ask as SKY is through landline for home

Broadband is on business

If my cunning plan works I can remove sky plus landline and get as good if not better TV

as well as the plan are there better 32 inch Smart TV's out there ?

Thanks in advance

I must be getting old becuase I cannot understand how buying a new TV affects whatever deal you have with SKY.

What do you mean by "SKY is through landline for home" and "Broadband is on business"?

How can we tell you if there are better TVs out there if you don't actually tell us what set you have in mind?

At a guess, I'd say the OP is talking about getting a smart TV, ditching his SKY ADSL (?) internet and using his business broadband connection to watch everything online through his new smart TV (using netflix etc). Thus making his sky package redundant.

...I think.

If you classify the link between transmitter and aerial as wireless, then yes.

You still haven't let us in to your secret. What TV model are you considering?

Why is this?
Apps. Someone has to pay to have them written. If other manufacturers thought they were losing sales because the lack of iplayer, itv player, 4od or demand 5 they would develop the app.

SAmsung Smart TV's are IMHO good.
I love the interface on them
One issue they can be quite finicky about which type of media they play I have network drive attached and some films cannot be played.
Also one thing overlooked they can act as freeview channel recording devices. I have both a Samsung and freesat box (don't do Sky as can't really justify the expense) WE can watch something on the TV whilst recording it but by using the freesat we can watch something else if you get me at same time.
They will also record series of stuff and you don't have to be in to record it either.
I just used a western digital elements desktop drive for it but any basic mains powered drive will work.
HINT - s/h cheap 500gb on e bay etc

Oh and dependant which one you buy the replacement remotes are easily available on e bay and if you "cheat" and don't mind some minor differences in buttons you can get on of the ones that lights up too !!
Another cheap way of tv is via a youview box you can pick them up from £39 onwards the talk talk ones all you need is an aerial lead and an Ethernet cabel and you have a cheap as chips truly great hard drive recorder with catch up tv built in

The TV you are looking at is HD Ready rather than HD isn't it? Not that I am sure what the difference is!

HD ready = 720p/1080i (usually 1366x768)
Full HD = 1080p (1920x1080)

Unless you are using it as a computer monitor, HD ready on a 32inch screen should be good enough for TV, BluRays etc unless you sit very close to the screen.

Personally, I'd get a bog standard TV and buy a smart BluRay player, the theory being that the smart stuff on the TV will be out of date soon anyway and it's easier/cheaper to replace the Bluray player then the whole TV. Actually at present I use a PC to perform the smart features, but that's not particularly relevant...

You can also use a Blu Ray player for the 'smart' content. These are much cheaper to upgrade.
