I've seen that video a few months ago, whilst researching my "craze of the week"

The are cool, no doubt about that, but christ they are expensive.
The LCD eyewear is so as he can see from the Quad's perspective, not that it seemed to help his aim much!!

I would love to have one, but where would you use it?
Imagine sending one of these up on the streets of London? I imagine you would get absolutely mullered. I would think it was some sort of terrorist machine!

I could see myself enjoying using it out in the country following rivers and such, but not sure how long they last!

Friends of mine have these and say the biggest issue is stability in the wind. They are fine when you fly them below the tree line but as soon as you pop them up too high they become a real handful.

I've got a DJI Phantom which is the cheapest and most accesable way into decent quadcopters. It sort of bridges the gap between something like a AR Parrot drone (iPad operated toy/gadget) and the type of drones used in this rescue.

It's fully GPS & Compass equiped which means its fairly easy to fly. In GPS mode it'll hold position, altitude and orientation in winds of up to 10m per second with hands off the controls.

It get expensive when you start to add gyro stabilized gimbals and FPV (first person view) kit. I use mine for filming with a GoPro Hero 3 and some of the shots are fantastic.

Have given two DJI Naza setups a go. Problems with both… I'll stick with heli's, much simpler ;-)
