Gumwall tyres on modern CF frame?

Because I can't think for myself I thought I'd open it to the floor and seek opinion of gumwall tyres on a modern CF frame.

Rabobank/Blanco/Belkin make it look very sexy on their Giants as did Euskatel.

depends if you are running tubs or not, from memory there are very few good quality gum wall clinchers made these days. I think the conti gp classic was the best I found. Probably due to the nature of their construction but its easier to find high quality tubs with gum walls.

Vittoria do a gumwall version of their Open Pro Corsa which is what I'll be fitting anyway. A sexy Italian bike made in Taiwan needs a sexy Italian tyre made in Taiwan!

Veloflex Master are nice, if lacking volume for their stated size (23mm or 25mm). Ride beautifully, plenty of grip and very light, but ZERO protection: the tan coloured sidewalls are the cotton casing, and the black is the rubber glued on. That's your lot. Don't last that long either, and the tan sidewall soon gets dirty. Sunny, Sunday best.

Not tried the Vittora Open Corsas, but if they're anything like the Open Pavés, they'll be great.

They are very nice, as fast and grippy as a GP4000s yet with a noticeably nicer ride, highly recommended.

i've got Vittoria Corsas on my new project Giant Trinity and to honest anything else would look wrong hehe

Now that will be VERY nice when it's cabled up and ready to go.

Those tyres introduce just enough of a splash of colour in just the right place. It just looks so 'Right'.

cheers mucka, shes currently at my mates getting a paint job, but nothing too extreme, graphite grey and gloss black accents in a Giant Propel style like the one the OP posted, where as the green will be replaced with grey bronzey graphite colour. Just waiting for the mrs to stop buying stuff for our new house so i can lash some funds over to Merlin to get my Di2 stuff.

Me too!

If it had been an all black frame I wouldn't even have to ask the question, you are right Gizomish, with the red it might just be stepping into overload territory.
