I have spoken to Hever Castle and a date is sorted. They are prepared to give a group of us access to park our cars on the forecourt in front of the castle. They will levy the standard cost of £8.80 per person. Each car must have a drip tray underneath it while parked. This gives us an opportunity to do some tyre kicking against the backdrop of a stunning castle...oh, and visit the castle...

Itinerary:
  • Date: Sunday 21 November
  • Place and time: Hever castle at 11am
  • Depart: The plan is to leave the castle by 1pm
  • Lunch: Optional lunch in the Henry VIII pub - opposite the entrance to the castle.

Directions:
  • Follow A22 (from J6 of M25) towards Eastbourne for 0.7 miles
  • At first roundabout, take first exit left along A25 to Sevenoaks/Westerham for
    3.5 miles
  • Just after a set of traffic lights, turn right along B269 towards Edenbridge for 2.7 miles
  • Just after the turning to Chartwell (road closed temporarily on left), bear left along B269 to Four Elms for 2 miles
  • At crossroads in centre of Four Elms, go straight across along B2027 to Bough Beech for 1.8 miles
  • Just before you get into Bough Beech, you go over a railway bridge - turn sharp right immediately after the bridge by the Wheatsheaf pub - towards How Green and Hever for 1.9 miles
  • As you come into Hever, the main entrance will be on your left opposite the Henry VIII pub - go through main gate and the admissions kiosk will direct you to the parking on the castle forecourt.
  • Please park where directed and remember to place a drip tray under your car.

Alternative route is to follow brown heritage signs to Hever (signposted from the M25), but beware road from Edenbridge to Hever is very bumpy.

If you are named above and can no longer make it, just post to that effect and I'll amend this list. Otherwise, see you all there? I have advised the Henry VIII that everyone is coming for lunch. However, there is no obligation.

I'd love to come to this - Would you let my little old 8.32 in or would you exotic types frown upon anything not pure blood?

I'd love to come and view, not the 27th though as it's PH Driver of the year.

Tony, that would be great. Just running around doing my nails etc before I shoot off to BT&P. If you can post on FChat, that would be superb.

It looks like it will be the 21st.
