I'd have to say, do your homework carefully, plenty about the subject that many may be loath to repeat, and then you have biases.
Also depends on what you want from the 911, they can have rather different characters, though with that budget which is not bad, some will still be off limits.
All I can say is that personally I went through phases wanting or looking into anything from an SC to a 997 of approximately the same vintage that you seek, and in the end it seemed wise to put my money on a 996 Turbo, which should be attainable at £23k if you do some legwork and buy privately.
Again it all depends what you want, what some consider to be a dubious feature (4WD) on this car, I consider to be a safety one, in view of the fact that I don't have any pretensions as to my driving ability, and the power that these cars can put down.
