Moneyweek 'End of Britain'
Discussion
Real, partly real or just scaremongering?
And can we do anything about it anyway?

Anyone with a bit more brain power than me care to comment on any of this.
Got a few questions
Are the facts and figures right?
Is it stoppable?
How could we recover from this as a country if it did happen?
How could we as individuals protect ourselves if it did happen?
Is any of the report true and if so which bits?
So who's going to put their head above the parapet have give an honest option

here you go - an opinion...there are many
Are the facts and figures right?
....dunno - hard to prove/disprove
Is it stoppable?
........the world governments are trying... but its all an economics experiment really..make it up as you go along. Never before has the world been in the position where we are now with make believe money and trillions in debt
How could we recover from this as a country if it did happen?
....go back to the real money based on the gold standard, hit the reset button on imaginary debts
How could we as individuals protect ourselves if it did happen?
...buy gold/silver to put under the mattress, and real tangible physical assets like land, property
Is any of the report true and if so which bits?
....Perhaps some parts, I cant be arsed to re-read the report again in detail (its years old), some "experts" over the last 10 years have predicted a similar end to the worldwide financial system...who knows what will happen or if it will happen in such a dramatic way ....
heres a read for you; - these guys have written a couple of books over the last 10 years ...they have some basic advice, but its really common sense that will pay off regardless...pay off debt, buy real assets, dont get caught in the craziness of various asset bubbles..

Is this the one which basically says that as soon as the interest rates go up we're all doooooomed?
I sat and read it on the bog a while ago and it's pretty 'scary' if you were to follow it as a factual piece. The reality is I lack the knowledge to realise how much of it is true - I'm probably their target audience.
How self-sustaining are we as a nation? If we had no money to import anything tomorrow, how would we cope?

Its a scary piece but totally one sided and doom mongering. Pure marketing to sell their magazine.I sat and read it on the bog a while ago and it's pretty 'scary' if you were to follow it as a factual piece. The figures are true throughout most of it but in the scary places they are out of context or twisted, or don't account for inflation, or miss comparables which show where we were in considerably more debt proportionally 60 years ago.
In other words its a complete load of b
ks.In one of the other threads there is an article which counters it perfectly an highlights it for the Daily Mailesque article it is
I saw this a while ago and searched for things to counter it, as it seemed skewed and OTT, and found this: http://coppolacomment.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/the-e...
It's much more balanced.

I've just sat through and wasted a good bit of my life watching the melodramatic scare-mongering video. Which really does boil down to an advert. I started to really get annoyed when they kept repeating themselves as if I'm some kind of inattentive stooge. They never mention what they've got wrong in the past. They quote their sources at the bottom of their page - interestingly none, not one, is dated past the end of 2012. At least a year out of date - why? Why aren't they operating on the latest information? Plus all the points raised above. The figures are true throughout most of it but in the scary places they are out of context or twisted, or don't account for inflation, or miss comparables which show where we were in considerably more debt proportionally 60 years ago.

ks.Thanks for the link to a more balanced article, once again proving there are lies, and there are statistics. I shall now be unsubscribing from their spam/newsletter, as it has become quite clear there's only one interest they have at heart - their own pockets.
