French songs, relatively modern

Hi

Anyone recommend any decent French songs with good lyrics (in French, obviously)? Trying to avoid Piaf, Paradis and certainly Hallyday.. Daft Punk and Air I like, but not much in the way of lyrics and often in English.

So, any suggestions please....

You could try Les Negresses Vertes. I love their stuff, is timeless, catchy even though I have no idea what they're singing about!

Bit of a bump, but I spent some time in France and my driver gave me a CD by a band called Loiuse Attaque (CD by same name) after I'd admired their stuff on the radio.

All in French (natch), pretty fast stuff, but reasonably 'pop-py' as well, so not too avant-garde, and some radio-friendly tracks. Also typically-French! It's worth a listen - they're pretty good.

Jean-Jacques Goldman is quite good at times. Try his double album Entre gris clair et gris foncé.

You could try Axelle Red - she's Belgian but sings mostly in French.
