Just a heads up, there's a documentary on Wish You Were Here on BBC Four right now. Kicked off with Dave Gilmour playing the opening section to Shine On You Crazy Diamond in (I assume his own) studio. This could be good.

I've seen the WYWH programme before fortunately - IIRC it's the one where they edit the production to show Gilmore and Waters playing the title track back-to-back in seperate studios... The stark contrast in musicianship always amuses me for some reason (though don't get me wrong - they're nowhere near their best without Waters' input IMHO!)

That's the one. I loved that bit, and near the end of that bit Waters talks about what the lyrics mean to him. Then ended with a personal touch saying that he prefers to be in the trenches than in the headquarters, and his father would have approved. It was a great insight.

Enjoying Delicate Sound of Thunder now and appreciating it in a way I never could when I had the vinyl as a teenager.

never been a massive fan but the live show is superb - got the cans on sounds great - better in hd but alas no.

musicianship of the highest order.
