Orange Crush Vs Stanton Slackline

I'm currently considering one of either of these bikes. The Orange looks like a better spec for the price (£1300 for the orange, about £1850 for the Stanton in SLX spec) - I'd probably upgrade the forks on the Orange so they would be the fox rather than the rockshox (£1400). The thing is, the Stanton is so so sexy.

They are both great bikes but I personally love the extra damping properties of a well-made steel hardtail so the Slackline edges it for me. Having said that I really liked the Crush I rode at Glentress a couple of years ago, it was a great fun bike, but it did feel pretty harsh compared to my Ragley Blue Pig.

I think that the crush is the better buy simply because the spec is about the same but the slackline is £600 more expensive. It's just that the slackline really is a looker and the steel frame is a big draw.
Ultimately if stanton will do me a deal and get a build close to £1500 I'd be very very tempted but as it stands I think I'm swinging to the crush.

The On One does look like stonking value in comparison. I do like the look of it to be honest, and I am going off the crush slightly. Not sure why.
Can someone talk to me about a comparison between the OnOne above, and the Slackline.

Just to add, you've thrown a right spanner on the works with the On One. I just don't get how it's so cheap, it's a much higher spec than even the Orange Crush, which is £100 more expensive, which in turn is better similar spec to the Stanton which is £600 more than the Orange, and £700 more than the OnOne!!!Can't find any reviews of the latest 456 evo2 frame though.
They aren't the same spec, in terms of materials. You can't compare a 853 frame to whatever the On-One is made of.
The On-One is cheap because it is based around a dirt cheap frame and is finished with a lot of cheap, heavy but functional kit.
The Slackline has a potential issue with the seat tube diameter limiting the number of options for an dropper seat post. The same with buying a 1 1/8 headtubed long travel frame - fork options are becoming more limited.
I think I'd go for a Cotic BFe frame (http://www.cotic.co.uk/product/BFe) and either buy a complete new bike in the sales and swap the bits, or build it up to my spec.
For example you could do the following;
Cotic Bfe frame with seat clamp £330
SLX Disc groupset (Shadow+) £350
Wheelset - Say £300 should buy something decent as sellers offload 26inch wheel stock. Hope Hoops with Flows possible if you find the right sale.
Fork - Say a £320 Rockshox Rev RL or Sektor.
Tyres and tubes £50
Bars £50 Renthal FatBar Lite, grips £10, Stem £50.
Seatpost £20 cheap jobbie as it might not be on there long.
Saddle £30
Headset £40
£1550

Good shout. I miss my Blue Pig a lot but unfortunately it had to be sold to help fund my current bike. Had mine set up with Fox 36 Floats reduced to 150mm travel; it was an absolute beast on techy descents but also climbed really well. If looking at Ragleys it might also be worth considering the Piglet & Marley.Upping the budget slightly, if funds allowed I’d love to build up a Production Privee Shan in Gulf colours...luverly.

I had a 2007 Crush and it was a heavy but brilliant bike. A real take it anywhere and do anything bike. Mine completed the 7 hill challange on the IOW twice, the Round the Island Road Race, and the Red Route at Dalby many a time. I have another Crush if I was looking for a hardtail bike.
OP you may hate me for this but On one currently have an ex display 456 on their eBay page for £999...
Whilst it's very easy to start dismissing their cheap steel frames, I have a 26" Inbred and it's a brilliant, fun, tough, simply engineered bit of kit that works really well on British trails.
