Pension account - disinvestment?

Question for the finance experts - I've just been on my pension account (company money purchase scheme) out of curiosity - I'm a long way from retirement :-/

Along with the regular monthly contributions, there are monthly "disinvestments" (each a relatively small amount).

Can anyone tell me what these are / why they are there?

I've had a quick google to no avail.

They'll be fund/provider charges, taken by cancelling units each month in order to pay them.

Thanks. Knew there were charges (obviously). Didn't realise they were collected in this manner.
