Motivational Books/CDs
Discussion
I recently had some interviews for a senior it position. Part of it was having to do a personality assessment. I was really cynical and dismissive about this, until I saw the results. It was so accurate, I couldn't believe it.
Anyway there was a section about how to make improvements. One of the suggestions was to read motivational books or listen to motivational CDs.
Can anyone recommend any? Seem to be a lot on Amazon by Zig Ziglar. Are these any good? Never heard of him, sounds like a line from a spice girls song.

From experience a lot of the motivational books lead you to find your inner fire or drives, do you need a book to find them? Take some time, be mindful and look at what your real wants and needs are, what really makes you want to move up the ladder. Are you happy? Are you floating along or pushing yourself? Have a look at long distance by bill mckibben, 10 min toughness by Jason Selk, 127 hours Aron Ralston. These books could give you an insight into what it takes to push, but most of all look inside yourself.
Try The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson not motivational as such more a technique/mindset to build on what you have.
I am currently reading the Corner Office by Adam Bryant.
Also try Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy, Goals! by Brian Tracy.
More left field is The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho (a bit weird in places - up there with Life of Pi)
The grandaddy of them all - How To Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie
All available on Amazon but if you Google the title you want with pdf after it you can get many for free as some are out of copy-write or people have uploaded pdfs of them
