P1 beats 918 record

Well after posting some very fast acceleration times it looks as though the P1 is fast around the ring too

Yes i would like to see an official time too but going by the acceleration the P1 has over the 918 i could imagine that time being possible

respectfully there is a bit more to it than that, the ring is a road circuit, not suited to P1, the TV and drive system on the 918 lower centre of gravity are more of an advantage on a track like the ring....Lot of BS around the P1

It was expected by Porsche. I had a conversation after the 918 numbers. They were thinking that the P1 might hit 6:36.

Respectfully.....not true......I am with the 918 team tomorrow and Monday will update.......The 6.57 918 time was hit on the 3rd run....ML the driver felt he has another 4-6 secs in the car...My understanding is that the P1 has some very fast sector time over several laps but no stand alone fast lap....yet

Don't forget that the Porsche engineers apparently sent the 918 round on non standard tyres, out of sheer curiosity, and this apparently scrubbed off 10 seconds.

Well - one other thing that nobody seems to have brought up is that the completely unsubstantiated claimed time for the P1 doesn't make it clear what that time is for... BTG (excluding most of DH), Standard industry lap (excludes the T13 section past the old pits) or an actual full lap (which is what Porsche did with the 918)... Even if it were genuinely being claimed, without quantifying what is being measured it is still meaningless.

My personal view is that if McLaren had such a lap on film (which if they had done it, they would have) then we would have seen a press release by now. Which we haven't. I further suspect that if a faster time than the 918 is to be forthcoming it is unlikely to emerge before next spring now...
