Well it's been cocked up already!
A previously entered bid on your item
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1748708319
has been retracted or cancelled.
You can view the retraction/cancellation and the reason provided by selecting the (bid history) link from the individual item page.
As a result of this retraction/cancellation, there is a possibility that the high bid amount and the current high bidder have changed. You can always view the current status of any item by going to the individual item page. (Be sure to refresh or reload the page to view the most up-to-date information.)
Not sure why this isn't reflected in the 'current bid' value but if you meant to bid somewhere around £100 then it's worth trying.

It'll be interesting to see what happens here.
Presumably there's no way of restricting the auction to the PH community; could be anyone, anywhere that wins, assuming they get to hear about it.
Perhaps next time we could try some home-brew PetrolTed/CarZee voting/auction scheme that is exclusively for PH members.
Right, off to get my bid in .....

I've got an auction site that Ted could have for free. Its on an Intranet I own so couldn't be linked to but I'd happily hand over the code.
Not saying I'm tight or anything but could I suggest that if another opportunity like this comes around the draw could be made raffle style rather than as an auction.
By the nature of auctions the winner is usually the one with the deepest pockets and I know already that any bid I can raise will be outdone easily. I want to win the prize but my lack of economic funding will stop me from doing so.
By raffling the prize everyone has an equal chance of winning the prize and it is regardless of wealth.

Got to agree with nigelbasson I'm afraid, by using the auction format none of the people with shallow pockets have a chance, no matter how generous they are feeling.
A raffle that cost, say, £10 to enter would have generated a lot of money and given everyone a fair chance.
However, don't want to whinge to much, it's a nice idea and credit to MadCop for volunteering and PetrolTed for helping organise it.

Understand your position Nigel, but raffles are bound by an extra layer of complexity legally - one I'm not in a position to deal with. An auction is straight forward.
Well you lot are full of goodwill today aren't you The priority here wasn't to offer something on the cheap but to raise money for charity. I think we should applaud the fact that such a decent amount of money has been raised so quickly.
MapCop has offered two sessions so there will be another up for grabs. MapCop is also giving his time for free and the money goes to a good cause. If it's not for you then don't bid, but don't pick holes in a worthy gesture.

Sorry if my comments came across as being an ungrateful git, just wanted to have the chance to win the prize like anyone else!!!
My comments were made as an idea for future "competitions" with the view of spreading the net as wide as possible. Pistonheads is not an elitist website from my experince and I just wanted to point out that the richest will get the prize.
However, my Mum always said I should have worked harder at school so I could get a higher paid job!!

Ted and all those contributing so far. I tend to agree that this sort of auction will preclude many PH members as it goes onwards. After reading some of the comments, I will look into the legalities of another method and depending on the interest shown, then I will donate a couple more on slightly different method of application to make it more open to everybody.
Please don't stop bidding. I promise you that you will enjoy the day and hopefully learn something into the bargain.

I recently read that Boxsters were the "most stopped" car for speeding. Madcop, any idea if this is true? Also, if I win this auction (I'm currently in the lead, but there's a long way to go yet!), will I have to disable the laser diffuser on the car before you get in??
Well done to you on organising this Ted, and to Madcop for donating his time.
