Been trying to trace where the water was getting in for a while. I duly tried the PH search and was directed to poor sealing around the lights
On Saturday, my son was visiting, and we were doing the 'boys in the garage' bit, whilst the girls rode the horses.
So, Dad jumps in boot with torch, son shuts same and with instructions to focus on the aperture seal area and the tail lights, starts spraying the rear of the car with the hose.
At first, it wasn't obvious, but luckily, I had lifted the edges of the carpet on the floor/vertical panel junction. That's where I saw a tell-tale trickle of water from the reversing and high-intensity fog light 'pod'. A few minutes with some clear silicone had the boot watertight again.
What a great information sharing site PH is!!

Richard, thanks for replying.
The grommet on the floor/below fuel tank was my first port of call.
Chose this because having felt all around the lid seal/carpets just below the seal, I couldn't see where/how the floor carpet was getting wet (and nothing else). Thought about the 'bee-sting' aerial on the lid, but again, the lining was dry.
